Enjoy free Wi-Fi service from Railtel and Google

Good news for the travelers, yes, those who travels from Indian Railways or who stays at certain railway stations as waiting for their train to come etc. can enjoy free high speed WiFi net connectivity. Time being, the passenger can browse from free WiFi high speed internet services at selected Railway stations. This service for the passenger is offering by Indian Railways’ Railtel and Google. Indian Railway’s Railwire internet services joined hands with Google to offer free net connectivity to selected few stations as mentioned below;



After the first launch at Mumbai Central, the passenger who are passing by Pune, Bhubaneshwar, Bhopal, Ranchi, Raipur, Vijayawada, Kacheguda (Hyderabad), Ernakulum Jn (Kochi) and Vishakhapatnam will get WiFi access for network using their Smartphone’s for free. All in all, Google is serving  public Wi-Fi service across ten key railways stations, enabling access to over 1.5 million Indians every day. The service will be formally inaugurated by Honorable Minister of Railways Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu soon.

How to get free WiFi net connectivity in a railway station?

I have already and personally experienced this service in Agra railway station that offered by Indian Railway via MTS net connectivity option. Whatsoever, to give better and high speed to the users, Railtel has built over the fiber network designed, and Google to serve on this.

Now the Travelers crossing the above stated stations can get easy stream a high speed video while they’re waiting for the train, check their destination or reservation, and download a book or a new game for their journey.


“As internet adoption grows, easy and affordable access to high-speed networks is the real need of the hour. This project will be the largest publicly accessible Wi-Fi network (with high speed) in the country, this project will set new benchmarks in delivering a reliable and consistent network connectivity in the country,” said Gulzar Azad, Head of Access Project, Google India.
